I first bought the Atmos in 2008 after I had a crash with my Louis Garneau and a week later I had a really bad accident with the Atmos and it essentially saved my life. Needless to say I went and got another. It is the lightest helmet I have ever had and comfort is never an issue. I wanted to get a new one but since my first purchase of this fine product it has gone from $120 to $175 and I keep searching for a sale and whenever I find one, they don't have my S/M (most popular size.) All I can say is that since the helmet is more popular they just hiked the price up $50. That's a shame because I really liked that helmet. Now I am just looking for a similar helmet made by another company that won't cost me as much. Who knows maybe if everyone else thought this way and acted on it the might realize the error in price gouging the public. But fat chance, somebody just has to be greedy!

Tommygee,
All the helmets are equally safe if they have a CPSC (USA) sticker, and all legally sold helmets have that sticker. About the looks, it all depends on the shape of your head. Giro Atmos and Pneumo are similar in shape, but you won't know for sure until you put it on. Amazon has a good return policy, so you can order it from them and return it if you don't like it, although you should check if they have the Large size in stock.

Giro Ionos might fit you better if you have a large round head.

Please let me know how it goes.

So how does the Atmos compare to the Pneumo of years back? I am looking to de-mushroom my look with a new helmet purchase, and the Atmos looks much more compact from an aesthetic standpoint. Humor me while I put safety to the side (they're all safe, right?) and concentrate solely on looks for a moment? I have a BIG dome, and I want something that doesn't make it look bigger...

I bought a Giro Atmos a few years back - Red & Blue. Unfortunately the red began to fade to a very unmanly pink about 6 months ago (only in certain parts of the helmet - other stayed fire engine red). I mostly ignored it until I couldn't. The helmet has been shipped back to Giro for them to decide if it's a defect (with the paint process) or simply the result of old age (present company excluded). The helmet itself is in excellent condition.

I've had the Atmos for over year and it's performed as advertised and reflects GIRO's expected attention to detail and quality - well made, very cool and light. If I have any complaints it's a hot spot in the front produced from the velcro patch to which the padding attaches (left side). Minior, but on longer rides it can become a distraction. I would highly recommend this helmet!
All the Best!

EE, thanks for the comment. I took the information from giro.com's Atmos page before they updated their site. Now I can't find it anywhere. In the Amazon product description they state the Atmos weighs 275 grams.

Your weight for the Atmos is wrong. I own a small Atmos with cut down straps, and it weighs about 300 grams, not 240.

George, I'm glad you weren't severely injured!
I'm sure you'll love Giro Atmos, it's one of the best helmets I've seen.
Ride safely! :-)

Hello There

I bought the ATMOS Helmet today. I have always bought Giro Helmets and have always found them to be of the highest quality.i was wearing an o7 Giro Helmet just last week when i had a tumble. The Helmet saved me from either death or at the very least severe injury. I had a bit of road rash but was able to get up and go on my way. To me it looked as if there was very little damaage to the helmet. There was lots of damage inside. It did it's job.Keep up the good work. Kindest Regards
